Can I use Newforma Field Notes on a job site?

Yes you can! Before you head to the job site, open the app and any projects you will need at least once. This will ensure the current list of projects and project data is downloaded. Even if you do not have a data connection in the field, you can still create field note items. They will sync back to the server when you regain a data connection.

 

Can I add a PDF file as a supporting document?

Can I delete a field note from my phone or tablet?

Yes, you can remove a field note from your device. When you remove a field note item, it will NOT delete the item from the project in Newforma Project Center or Info Exchange. See this topic for instructions: To remove a field note.

 

Can I remove media that is attached to my field note?

Yes, you can remove any media/supporting documents attached to a field note item. To remove the media files, edit the field note item and long press the specific media files. When prompted, tap Remove Media, then tap Save once your changes are complete.

 

Can I share data from other apps with Newforma Field Notes?

Yes, it is possible to share data from other apps with Newforma Field Notes. Many Android apps provide a Share button or menu to link to other apps. For more information on sharing data, see To share data from another app.

 

Can I create a field note from another app?

Yes, when you share data from another app with Newforma Field Notes, a new field note item is automatically created with the shared data linked as an attachment. For more information, see To share data from another app.

 

How do I download a project?

Download your projects while you have a strong data connection. The first time you use Newforma Field Notes, open the project in the app at least once before you head out to the job site. Opening Newforma Field Notes will ensure the current list of projects is downloaded; opening the project will ensure the latest project data is downloaded. How do I complete a field note?

After creating field notes on the job site, you can complete field notes by modifying them in Info Exchange. In Info Exchange, you can take additional action by logging the field note information as an action item or an RFI if the issue warrants further attention. What information is downloaded to my phone/tablet when I use the Newforma Field Notes app?

When you update your device data, Newforma Field Notes downloads the following data to your device:

        Users

        Spaces

        Field notes

        Extended properties

Supporting documents

Internal user receive all supporting documents if they are downloaded (optional based on the Synchronize settings). External users only receive supporting documents that are shared with them by Project Center users. Project Center users have the flexibility to share specific documents with external team members through the activity centers where the documents are added as supporting documents.

 

When will the new field notes upload and be available in Newforma Project Center and Newforma Info Exchange?

When you have a data connection, new field note items automatically upload to the Info Exchange Server that hosts the related project, then the Project Center Server.
