What are plans?

Plans refer to the PDF files of record documents from the Document Control Activity Center of Newforma Project Center, or quality control items in Newforma Project Cloud, that are accessible to mobile users using the Newforma Plans app.

The Plans app provides access to the most recent version of each record document. Record documents must be visible on Newforma Info Exchange and team members must have permission to view these documents on Info Exchange to view them on the Plans app.

 

What's new in version 3.0?

Plans has undergone a comprehensive makeover for iOS7 and 8, making the app easier to use and more powerful:

        When used in conjunction Project Center projects, Plans now allows for the capturing, locating, and management of project items such as action items, field notes, and punch list items. It also provides the option of assigning punch list and action items to team members for follow-up.

        When used in conjunction with Newforma Project Cloud projects, Plans supports the capture, location, and management of quality control items as designated by Project Cloud administration. Such QC items may be labeled "Punch List," "Non-compliance," or "Work to complete," for example.

        Additionally, you can now identify your favorite record document plans, and link sheets to one another for easy cross-referencing.

 How do I download a project?

Plans automatically adds projects for you if you have already added connections using your Newforma ID. For more information, refer to Add a Connection to Newforma ID. You can also manually add a project.

 

How do I save a markup created in Newforma Plans?

In the Markup Plan panel, tap Done and then tap Save Flattened Copy when prompted to save the markup. The markup is saved to the Saved Markups panel in Newforma Plans. See To markup a plan document save it for more information.

 

Can I upload markups created in Newforma Plans to Project Center and Info Exchange, or Newforma Project Cloud?

It is not possible to directly upload or sync markups from Plans. For more information on sharing markups, see To email (or copy or print) a markup.

 

 How do I delete a document from Newforma Plans ?

Select a downloaded document and then tap to remove the plan document from your iPad.

Removing a document from the Newforma Plans app does not remove the original document from the project on Newforma Project Center or Info Exchange, or Newforma Project Cloud.

 

How do I use Newforma Plans on a jobsite or without a data connection?

Before you head to the jobsite, open the app at least once and open your projects. This will ensure the current plan documents are downloaded. Even if you do not have a data connection in the field, you can still mark up your plan documents. If you email a markup to a team member, the email message will automatically be sent when you have a data connection again.

 

How do I share a marked up document?

What file types are supported in Newforma Plans?

Plans only downloads and displays PDF documents from your available projects.

 

Why can't I mark up multi-page PDFs?

At this time, multi-page PDF markup is not supported. Multi-page PDFs are read-only in Newforma Plans.

 

Why don't my Project Center, Info Exchange, or Newforma Project Cloud documents show up in Newforma Plans?

If documents do not appear in Newforma Plans, consider the following:

        Be sure the device has a data connection.

        Newforma Plans will only display PDF documents.

        It is possible the data has not finished synchronizing. Newforma Plans checks regularly with the Newforma Info Exchange Server for the existence of new plans documents.

        What you see in the app depends on the following:

  • You must be a member of a permission set that grants access.

  • Project Center users need access to show all record documents.

  • External users only see plans where the Revision State is Issued.

Will action items, punch lists, or field notes created in Project Center or Info Exchange appear in Newforma Plans?

No. Only these project items created in the app itself will appear.

 

What can I transfer between Newforma Plans and Newforma Project Cloud?

You can currently download and upload punch lists and non-compliance items between Newforma Plans and the Quality Control activity center in Newforma Project Cloud. Documents are automatically downloaded from the Document Management feature of Newforma Project Cloud.

 

Why has my Project Center project disappeared?

If a project has been moved from Newforma Project Center to Newforma Project Cloud, the Project Center project will no longer be available in Plans. Only the Cloud version will be available.

 

Do email messages I send from Plans get filed to the Project Center project?

They do if you have project email addressing set up in Project Center for the project. If addressing is set up, the project email address is automatically added to the CC field and the email message is automatically filed to the project. Be aware that project email addressing does not work for Microsfot Office 365 installations.

 

What happens to project items and markups when a plan is revised?

When a plan is revised, the new revision will become the new background image. If the scale is unchanged, the previously placed items and markups will be in the same locations, otherwise you may have to drag the items to a new location.

 

Can I create project items in the Plans app and see them in the Newforma Tasks app?

Yes. Any item captured in the Newforma Plans app or the Newforma Capture app is accessible in the Newforma Tasks app.
