Click the File As button to save time when filing Outlook items to action items, transmittals, RFIs, submittals, or project timeline events in Project Center. The information from the selected Outlook item is automatically added to the Project Center item when you use the File As button.
Click File As, then choose one of the options below to open the Select a Project dialog box to choose the Project Center project in which to file the selected Outlook item. Select the project, then click OK to perform the following actions:
If you choose to file as an Action Item, Project Center opens to the Identify an Action Item dialog box. The information from the Outlook item is automatically added to the action item.
If you choose to file as an RFI, Project Center opens to the Log an RFI dialog box (after you select a project). You can then choose the type of RFI to log. The information from the Outlook item is automatically added to the RFI.
If you choose to file as an RFI Answer, the Add to Project Item dialog box opens (after you select a project), from which you can select the RFI that the Outlook item is in response to. After you select the RFI and mark the File as RFI Answer checkbox, Project Center opens to the Record an RFI Answer dialog box. The information from the Outlook item is automatically added to the RFI answer.
If you choose to file as a Submittal, Project Center opens to the Log a Submittal dialog box (after you select a project). You can then choose the type of submittal to log. The information from the Outlook item is automatically added to the submittal.
If you choose to file as a Submittal Reviewer Response, the Add to Project Item dialog box opens (after you select a project), from which you can select the submittal that the Outlook item is in response to. After you select the submittal and mark the File as Reviewer Response checkbox, Project Center opens to the Record a Submittal Reviewer Response dialog box. The information from the Outlook item is automatically added to the submittal response.
If you choose to file as a Timeline Event, the Create a New Project Event dialog box opens (after you select a project), from which you can select the type of project timeline event to create from the selected Outlook item. If a timeline event is created using this task, most of the fields in the item in Project Center will be read-only. In order to update the item in Project Center, update the item in Outlook and re-file the Outlook Item.
The Timeline Event menu item is not available for email messages. It is only available for Outlook appointments, meetings, tasks, and journal Items for which you are the owner (meeting organizer).
If you choose to file as a Transmittal, Project Center opens to the Log an Incoming Transmittal dialog box or the Create an Outgoing Transmittal dialog box (depending on which option you chose. The information from the Outlook item is automatically added to the transmittal.
