Search a Set of Search Results

Search is one of the most powerful features in Project Center. You can use its capabilities to narrow the results of a search as many times as necessary.

To search for text in a set of search results

1.     From any activity center in Project Center, simply enter the text you are looking for in the Search field (located in the Toolbar at the top of Project Center).

2.     Click the drop-down arrow next to the Search button and choose the search option to use, then click Search, as shown here. All files and project items containing the text string are listed in the Search Results window.

3.     To narrow down the list of results, you can continue searching just the items in the list by clicking Search the Results from the Tasks panel and entering the next word or phrase you are searching for, as shown here. The list of results is filtered to include only files and items containing the text phrases that you enter. All other files and items are removed. You can continue clicking Search the Results and entering additional text as many times as necessary to find the results you are looking for. The text phrases you enter are listed in the Search field in the Toolbar.

4.     To narrow down the results to find particular items or files, apply search filters. In the Filter By column, select the filter type to apply to the results list. The list of results is filtered to include the selected type only. All other files and items are removed. You can also filter by column headers to use as many filters as necessary to narrow the list of results until you find the item you are looking for.

5.     When you find the file or item you want, you can select it from the list of results, and a preview of the file appears at the bottom for many supported file types. For example, if you're looking for a file with a .DWG extension, you can filter on that file type, select the file from the list, and preview it in the Preview tab. Double-click on the file to launch it in its native application.
