Project Center Tenth Edition Help

Add a Filter Server Configuration dialog box

Settings for filtering services that are installed on other machines will automatically have default configurations created for them when they first start up and contact the indexing service. However, they will be added with the default settings. You can use this dialog box to add configurations for these filtering services ahead of time (before they are installed) if you desire settings that differ from the defaults. You can also use this dialog box to configure a filtering service using another filtering service configuration as a template.

Filtering services perform the work for the Project Center indexing server. They are the processes that open all of the files and extract text from them. (The indexing server takes the extracted text and puts it into the database.) You can install filtering services on as many machines as you want (one filtering service per machine). Each indexing server can then have multiple filtering services working for it.

Name of New Filter Server Machine

Enter the name of the server machine on which the filtering service is running.

Create the New Filter Server Configuration Using:

  • Choose Default Settings to configure the filter server using the Project Center default settings

  • Choose The Settings of the Currently Selected Server to configure the filter server using the same settings as the currently selected filtering server.

To access this dialog box

Click Add from the top of the Filter Severs tab of the Project Center Administration activity center Indexing tab.
